Top Eyewear Trends for Summer 2016

Spring has officially sprung, and now there’s actually some sunshine to enjoy, many of us are already thinking about our summer wardrobes. A crucial part of any summer ensemble is the eyewear, so to help you ensure you’re looking on-trend on the beach this summer, here are the top sunglasses trends from spring/summer 2016:

Oversized sunglasses

The popularity of oversized frames never really goes away, and it’s a key trend for 2016. Oversized frames were prominent on the runway at fashion weeks all over the world, and it’s a trend that will likely continue well into late 2016.

Dolce & Gabbana are an excellent bet for oversized frames, with some beautiful floral embellishments that will help you stand out whether you’re in Paris or London. We’d also recommend some of the oversized frames available from Gucci and Chanel – for those looking for high street pairs, Banana Republic have some fantastic options available.

Cat-eye sunglasses

Cat-eye sunglasses are always a popular choice, and 2016 will be no different. We predict round cat-eyes will be particularly prominent on the faces of fashion conscious ladies, and expect to see a heavy focus on floral designs and detailing.

Anna Sui is our preferred choice this season, although we’d also recommend Moschino and there are some beautiful classic frames available from Vivetta.

Another recurring trend from last year (and many years before that), aviators will continue to dominate the beaches and cities all over the world, with a range of takes on the classic style. Tommy Hilfiger is an excellent choice for those looking for something a little different, and if you want a more futuristic look we’d opt for some of the beautiful aviator frames from Chanel. Emporio Armani have also released some more very desirable options, and if you want the classic aviator look we’d always recommend Tom Ford sunglasses.

Geometric shapes

Rectangular frames will be a popular choice for fashionistas worldwide this season, with geometric combinations (particularly with cat-eye frames) making regular appearances. There are some rather outlandish futuristic frames available from Marco de Vincenzo and Acne Studios, as well as some beautiful options from Mami.

Irregular shapes

Uniquely shaped lenses will be a very popular choice in 2016, from stars to hearts and everything in between. Giamba offer some stunning and very unusual choices, and Dolce & Gabbana also have some unique shapes available. Colour is an important consideration with irregular shaped frames, so be sure to check out colour trends for the 2016 season.
